How can I get my oldest son who is nearly 4 to play nicely and share his toys with his younger brother who is nearly 3?

  • Teach them at a young age what is Respect and Kindness

  • Lots of positive reinforcement!! Talk to him about sharing and how nice it is. Lead by example. Make it a game and try get him to feel satisfaction from sharing. Even try using the younger child to show him how nice it feels when sharing occurs

  • Not an easy task I know, if you join in for a while with a game or too, “monkey see and monkey do” that is a quote not meaning you!. But kids learn by observation it is so, so my advice is give it a go

  • Sit and play with them. Praise when they share.

  • Explain clearly nd in short what nice play is. Wen nice play doesnt happen tell him what he is doing wrong (one sentance). what u want him to do ( one sentance nd what will happen if he doesnt do it(one sentance). if he complies praise praise praise. if he doesnt then follow through on the consequence. example…taking toy away etc. be firm but calm. in a week on consistancy on ur part u will see a change. works for every situation too. my boys are good as gold.

  • Praise for sharing works well, and encouraging games where they swap toys. If all else fails, time out if the older boy is really not being kind to his little brother.

  • Hope you have found a way to get them to share.

  • Watch them play and encourage and praise when you see something good!

  • i hope you have success

  • Always encourage them and give positive reinforcement

  • how did they go? :)

  • How are they together now?

  • Hope you found the answers you were looking for.

  • My daughter aged 4 is just learning by herself to share with her twin sisters aged 21 months

  • Good luck they just have to learn
