  • I have moved so many times the key is get rid of any rubbish first and do room by room

  • Organisation is key but also pack early the things you dont use and be ruthless donate things you dont need so there is less to move

  • Actually, my daughters were a great help this time around. We hired a hydraulic lift truck and they thought that was a lot of fun. Well they really liked it at the start of the day but by the end of the day they realised how exhausting moving actually is!

  • Get rid of the children while you move if you can. So much easier without them around.

  • I’ve just moved into our new house and yes I agree, it does take a lot longer to pack than unpack!

  • Second the organisation. It’s amazing how much time it actually takes to pack then unpack.

  • Be organised. Pack as much as you can early on so you don’t leave everything til the last minute. It actually takes longer than you realise to pack

  • Oh yes I forgot about the clear labelling, there’s nothing worse then putting boxes in the wrong room and having to move them again!

  • You are welcome! Good luck with the packing and moving and clearly labelling boxes with contents does help – big time.

  • Thank you so much for your advice, I am currently declutterig and doing a bit everyday!

  • Get rid of all clutter before you move – do not take it with you. Be fairly ruthless about it too – if you do not use it, there is little point in paying for it to be moved or moving it yourself.

  • Pack up as much as possible a week or two before moving and label absolute everything!
