Hello!

I was wondering if anyone had any tips to remove the calcium marks off my bottle teats. I sterilise them in an electric steriliser and I boil them every couple of days but due to the water we used the build up won’t go away. I was hoping someone had any other tips as boiling them does not work but makes it worse.

  • Did you try baking soda & vinegar ? Otherwise I would soak them in Nappysan followed by vinegar baking soda soak.

  • Try soaking in a little vinegar and then rinse off.

  • My daughter’s dummies get this white milky gunk build up inside them – milton and boiling water haven’t fixed it. I throw them out periodically but it seems to happen pretty quickly. Is this what you mean by calcium and How did you fix it?

  • Clean and rinse bottles and teats as soon as feed is over. Or soak until you can clean. Hot water and gentle detergent put salt in the teat and rub the teat edges and down into the nipple to remove what is there aught to do the trick. Put Bicarbonate of soda into the teat and add to it some white vinegar and it will fizz. Rub the teat as with the salt and this will also give a good clean.

  • thanks i will give it a try as i have not got a dishwasher

  • I find the dishwasher discolours the tests but boiling in vinegar works to get the stains off.

  • Salt
Soak them in salty warm water

  • Soak them overnight in vinegar then roll them gently between your fingertips. Rinse well in hot water.

  • I find placing them in the dishwasher helps

  • Hi I don’t remember having calcium build up on the teats, don’t know what to use I just used to scrub them with a little tiny teat brush and wash up detergent and rinse well before putting them in the electric steriliser , but just thinking we use tank water so maybe thats why I haven’t seen it
