Hello!

I’m wondering if anyone has found any Apps for kids that once downloaded don’t require internet or data. I would love to get my kids some new apps they can play on a tablet that then won’t run out of data or try to purchase extras etc while they are playing. My children are 3, 5 and 6.

  • There are quite a few reading apps that work without the internet being connected. Can’t remember any names right now, but if you look for the ones under the “free” heading, most turn up there.

  • How very annoying that the first several responses are JUDGEMENT against this mother!! Have you ever considered her circumstances and why she might be asking? For example, I am preparing to take two young children on a 3 hour flight and searching the internet for the very same thing this mother is searching! Stop judging, like you\’re such a perfect parent?! No one is perfect, we do the best we can with what we\’ve got. Let he without sin cast the first stone.

  • Encourage them to be outside. Data suggests you can go shortsighted if don’t spend enough time outside away from the screen when you are young. But having said that there are apps that use you use outside that don’t require data. If you have a smart phone with GPS you can track where you walk and look at learning map reading, or do some star gazing with an app that maps the sky from where you are.

  • Yet another parent of young children seeking apps for yet another technological device. These gadgets seem to be replacing babysitters and even mum and dad to an extent. It’s sad to see

  • Some great suggestions here. I am interested in this also.

  • some apps you download and then go to open, download update, and then you can play. go to the kids section and look for the apps that let you set parental controls or just simple find the setting on your phone that enables/disables the wap/internet data or you can put it into flight mode and they can use it but can’t send data or texts!

i love finding new apps for my son
he has a leap pad ultra and its great

  • The PlaySchool app is fab as is the Wiggles road trip and I would also recommend the TOCA BOCA ones. I find lot of decent apps cost to start with but are far superior to free ones that constantly require add ons.
