Hello!

I have a huge collection of empty baby formula tins just sitting in the shed.
Does anyone have some ideas on how they can be used? I would hate them to all go to waste. I would love some craft ideas especially that kids could help with too.

  • A friend turns them into bird feeders. I just cover them in contact and use them to store food or small toys.

  • I used to make money tins with ours but my wonderful husband decided to make musical instruments for our 2 year old…. that… i do not recommend lol

  • For storing bits and bobs, get crafty and paint/cover them, give bub a wooden spoon and let by tap away. If all else fails any childcare centre or kindergarten would probably like them for craft with the kiddies

  • I’m saving them up for my sons birthday party, doing a ten pin bowling game with the tins stacked up

  • I’m collecting tins for my hubby and his mates for the nuts and bolts. They are very wanted tins

  • I remember some guys used them to store leftover cements to keep it dry.

  • Make bird feeders. Or decorate them and use as storage tins.

  • I remember my dad making little drums for me out of my little sister’s formula tins!

Could also store gift wrapping surplus (ribbons, tape etc) or items in the garage? Or craft supplies like crayons, glue etc.

  • following, can only think of drums for the kids!

  • I spray paint coffee tins so could do same with formular tins.spray coat after paint with clear laquer spray to keep colour. A multitude of storage ideas for everyroom in house. colour co-ordinate for rooms required in.Great range of spray paints, For storing Hair brushes, pencils kitchen tools, smaller items can be stored scrunches etc just label tin if cannot be seen. I do it with shoe boxes too, making them two tome like white and gold (favourites with me. Store sockes and stockings in my draweres so can find them easily. I also use them as gift boxes with goodies in for friends. Happy creativity,You can make them candy striped using masking tape before you spray, can also be used as plant holders with right size plant pot, great for succulents as they need little watr,, hope this gives tou some ideas

  • u can paint them and use for pot plant ,or use them inside after u have painted them for kids pencils crayons etc I use them outside for potplants but haven,t painted them if u google they will show u how to do

  • I would use them with holes in bottom for growing seedlings ,transplant then throw out in recycle bin or paint them for lego bits use lid for the base as kids will not use them if lids are on .good luck also good for packets of dried legumes for soups keep in packets label , keep in pantry . if moving house pack with bathroom items, lid on ,no breakages .

  • I second donating what you don’t use to schools. They can use them for storing pencils, paints, art supplies etc.

  • I’m sure a local primary or even secondary school could use them, for art projects. Check local pay it forward sites.

  • There’s only so much you can do with the amount of tins you end up with. I now just put them in the recycle bin.
