Hello!

It’s often 35-40°c here at the moment and we don’t have a massive space inside. It’s too hot to even be in the shade most of the day. What are some ideas for a bored 3 year old that aren’t too messy.

  • playdough is always a winner or making cloud dough

  • Maybe savage hunt or create something out of recycling boxes…

  • Whiteboard markers and a shallow, cool bath. Let them draw all over the wall tiles and race to see who can clean the fastest.

  • A teddy bears picnic and few baths during the day with lots of playtime and cups.

  • Blow up pool to sit and splash in! Honestly water is the best way to keep cool in the heat and can be lots of fun too :)

  • Drawing and colouring books
Mini whiteboard and markers to draw and wipe.
    Threading dry pasta necklaces
Making pom poms with yarn then turn them into animals with some googly eyes
Making milkshakes then picnic blanket and movie
Blanket over table gives them a cubby or tent
    Easy matching pairs game
Cutting and pasting – supermarket specials books and paper plates…make your own dinner or lunch plate
Empty bottles and tennis ball makes own bowling set. Play in hallway.
Sock monsters from old socks and stuff with paper. Can glue or draw on eyes and mouth etc.
    Make pet rocks
    Paper planes
Decorate plant pots with stickers etc then plant some seedlings

  • Re answer below….using a water gun on psinting books, don’t do that, too much water wrecks the pictures and ultimately the book

  • Water paint books you can buy in big W so you could use a water gun in your shower or bath area to colour in pages, shaving foam on shower screens or back glass doors just put towel under area and spray and watch them giggle while they finger trace, use frozen fruit to make patterns or pictures on a tray them eat for healthy edible art even making little animals with tooth pics, and water crayons are always fun, hope you try some we have two teen daughters with Autism and one (18) is non verbal and still my baby/toddler she loves bubbles so try putting bubbles in fridge then cool down bubble time. Good luck.

  • I know some people dont encourage watching TV but on a hot day we usually make a indoor Picinic and watch there fav show Bluey
