  • The kmart vtech is good!

  • We had an Angelcare one and realised that a neighbour must have had the same one as us as we often picked up on their frequency and could hear them. I’d go to the baby shops and see the different ranges and options available. If you’ve got a subscription, you could also check to see what Choice magazine recommends.

  • I would check out more than one baby shop (different brands) as some may favour some brands which may not necessairly be as good.

  • go to the baby shop and ask their opinion. we had a tommee tippee one and it was pretty good.

  • We have a Vtech safe and sound full colour video and audio monitor and I love it. It has very good range with great picture quality and infrared technology. It cost about $150 abd I’ve seen it cheaper now. We got ours from baby bunting.

  • Highly recommend the Angelcare monitors. I can walk out of a solid brick house to my letter box, or hang out washing and still in coverage. In addition you can get the motion pads that go under the mattress to monitor breathing and heart rates for extra peace of mind.

  • you have to consider things like range (particularly if you have thick walls), do you want a video monitor and also do you want a two way intercom so you can talk to baby without going in, some have music some have lights. I would go into your baby store and ask the sales staff to go through some options for you.

  • I had a Graco monitor when my daughter was young. But she’s now 13 years old, so I wouldn’t able to advise on the best baby monitors on the market.

  • Just go into a baby supply shop or somewhere like Target KMart or BigW and ask about them. You’ll be able to see them first hand and get the shop assistant to do a demo and explain the pros and cons

  • Baby shops have a lot to choose from and models change all the time – head into a baby shop and ask for their expert opinions.
