Hi, I’m thinking of studying to be a teacher aide. The hours and holidays are the real appeal. Just wondering if anyone else has done this and what its like?

  • I haven’t personally, but I know several mums who have. They find the work incredibly satisfying and the hours work well for them.

  • I hope your motivation is that you love to work with children and have skills in the teaching area. I hope it works out for you, success !

  • If the only appeal for you is the work hours and holidays I’d suggest a different career! I’ve been an EA and am a qualified teacher. I don’t have the passion for teaching that I once had so will not step foot in a classroom as it wouldn’t be fair on the students! I’d say, give it more thought and see if it’s what you REALLY want to do, to help enrich the lives of children or if you just want the holidays, hours and pay
