We would love to be able to take the kids on a holiday during the school holidays. We don’t want to go to far from home (Newcastle) and don’t want to spend a lot but would love something fun for the kids. The kids are 13, 8 and 4. Thanks

  • Camping: But not just in Caravan Parks, try FREE camps. Here is just one site you can check out: http://www.campsaustraliawide.com/free-sample-camping-sites/
Some sites do get busy so do your homework by asking other travellers when you are on your road trip.

  • Off season is the way to go to save money and also the specials advertised with airlines are always popping up.

  • If you or a friend are a Jetstar Club member, they have some good deals occassionally where you can get 2 flights for the price of 1. Have done it with getting my family to Sydney. Also, air bnb can be good if you are prepared to do some internet checking, much cheaper than many hotels. Good luck!

  • Check out deals from the deal sites. We got a fabulous package then scoured the airline sites til we found flights for $1300 return to Phuket for two adults and two kids.

  • stay in and plan daily activities

  • Also if you belong to any motoring clubs or other clubs you can get discounted rates and holiday and caravan parks. Some places give you cheaper accommodation when you join their free sites too. Well worth looking into before any holiday for deals. Always check trip advisor and other travel sites too for reviews and suggestions.

  • Camping is such a good way to go for families wanting a holiday. It is relatively cheap compared to other forms of accomodation and it is good for teaching life skills too. There are good places to camp in coastal towns too and often these can be in caravan parks with a pool, play grounds and other child friendly facilities. Camping takes planning and prep beforehand but is well worth it and relaxing and rewarding.
