Hello!

We’re just finishing up renovating a house, and intend to move shortly after our first baby is born, so I’d rather get an all in one portacot than heavy furniture that we’d just have to move again. I’d just like to know which one mum’s found the best? Thanks so much!

  • I brought an icoo 1-2-3 from eBay for $100 that transitions from a bassinet to a bouncer to a high chair. Very portable

  • I have used and bought many Steelcraft Cozysleep 4-in-1 Portacot around $180 from Target Australia.
They are well made and I have never had any problems.
They make a great gift for new Mums-to-be.

  • We had a Chicco Lullaby for our little one when she was born. The mattress turns into a play mat and is quite padded compared to other brands. It comes with a bassinet level, change table and corner attachment that plays music and nature sounds, vibrates and has a nightlight with a remote. It was used as her ‘normal’ cot til around 4 months. She then developed a fear of it and hasn’t slept a minute in it since. She climbs the walls in a panic to get out. We switched to a normal cot after co sleeping for a few months with her on a mattress next to our bed (only way to get some sleep). It’s taken about a month to transition her into her own timber cot slowly adding the fourth side and lowering the base with her cot against the side of our bed. We’re using a boori bassinet and then cot for our second one. Not trying to discourage you from trying a portacot, just don’t be disappointed if it doesn’t end up working at some point. Best of luck! :)

  • Honestly 99% of them are fine, although with a new born you may want to look for one that has two levels so when they are very little you don’t have to put them all the way to the bottom of the cot.

  • I bought one called Kiddycots from ebay. It is a travel cot and it is so cheap! now my bub is 8 months old and she sleeps in the travel cot everynight. Now that she is more and more mobile, the fact that the cot has mesh and not the typical wooden railing cots prevent her from hurting herself when she tries to stand up and falls back.
The travel cot folds easily into a golfbag size and opens up into a regular cot size :)
