Hello!

Do any mums work from home as a Bookkeeper? I am looking at doing a TAFE course next year and then doing books from home. Is it worthwhile money wise? Do you manage to get mum stuff and work stuff done?

  • I would say it would be an ideal solution. You are getting qualifications which will also help to find you work. I would have loved to work from home, best situation for us mums

  • I have also looked into this, and I’m glad I read one mum’s detailed response on how long it takes and that it’s not as easy at it used to be. Thanks for asking this question.

  • I looked into it but decided against it as my toddler would never let me sit still enough to do my work!

  • Good on and wishing you every success with your studies.

  • It’s not as easy as it used to be. If you can work for an Accountant or more experienced bookkeeper you would have more success. You need to be registered & have insurance so it’s hard to start out when you don’t yet have experience. If you do your course thru TAFE often the teachers or info boards at TAFE have positions available if you ask around. I used to post our ads at TAFE when we were looking for newbies.

I think your looking at a 9 mth full time course before you can do bookkeeping, but TAFE is the place to ask or Tax Agents Board

  • What a great idea! How productive of you to take on a course so you can do this. I used to do child care from home. It was great because I could do mum and housey stuff while working. I loved it, best way to work
