Hello!

I’ve been looking online for mermaid party supplies, but most of it is Ariel stuff, which I don’t want. Does anyone know of where to get non Ariel mermail things please?

  • Coles recently had mermaid cupcake decoration kits which were really cute!

  • My daughter recently went to a mermaid party and they had an older cousin (mid teens?) dress up as a mermaid and the kids LOVED it. She helped with some of the party games and keeping an eye on the kids. She wasn’t dressed as Ariel though.

  • You could get kids to decorate with glitter etc a pre cut template for a mermaid tail to stick on a peg doll or picture. if you look on pintrest there are some nice ideas here.

  • Thank you for all your great ideas! Gives me a lot to think about.

  • Get green crepe streamers. Cut at desired length and twist each around and stick both ends to the wall (I used blutack). It gives a great sea weed look for any underwater themed party. We did it for my daughters Octonauts party. :) Cheap and looks great!

  • Tons of stuff on Etsy.com if you want to have something already made or you can trawl through Pinterest as they have a lot of great ideas you can do and make at home.

  • Sorry pic would not load earlier. :-)
all the very best to you.

  • Through experiences I found google helpful ..just google mermaid ideas, sure there may well be lots of Ariel stuff but there are ordinary mermaid stuff and ideas as well.
I have a “Sandcastle Cake” on here if you are looking for ideas.

Edible sandcastle. “Sandcastle Cake”Fun cake for a special Birthday or simply as a fun activity.

Hope you have success with finding what you require and your little mermaid has fun.

  • We love making home made decorations – hanging blue and white streamers really helps create a theme as could clear and pale blue balloons. Online templates are also great. Spotlight is great for material – a couple meters of shimmery blue could make a great tablecloth and a fairly easy tail. Enjoy being creative.

  • Have the children create around the mermaid theme – from dressing up each other or dolls with material scraps, to creating mermaid shapes from cardboard and paint, or make a giant mermaid mosaic on the biggest piece of fabric/paper you can find. Hndprint mermaids where they create the scales from handprints stuck in different colour paints and sparkles. Consider clay or other construction materials. If THEY do the creating then you wont need to buy specific mermaid things! Just stimulate their imaginations and provide some materials…

  • I had a little look, my gosh everything mermaid related involves Arial!!
I did find two websites which may help,,
    http://www.birthdayexpress.com
    http://www.etsy.com
    Good luck in your search.

  • There’s lots of mermaid diy ideas on pinterest, lots really simple. Don’t get too caught up in the idea of only mermaids because there’s lots of ocean things that tie in perfectly and can be super easy. The guests could make shell necklaces to take home, decorate plaster mermaids / sea creatures (check craft shops and Bunnings), op shops for floaty sea type decorations, fishing nets with sea creatures would look great too. There’s a web site called clever patch that sells craft supplies, great quality, reasonable prices and I’d be surprised if they didn’t have something. Reject shop or similar often have mermaid stickers (not Ariel just mermaids) and a friend of mine got her daughter some wall stickers and a cute mermaid doll from a bargain shop. The doll was only $5. Since mermaids are often seen brushing their hair you could have cute hair brush and mirror sets for game prizes or take home bags if not too expensive. Have a fun party!

  • Art shops should have bargain bins that will have cheap supplies, glitter and other sparkly items which would be perfect for mermaids.

  • you go to op shops and sucuch, buy adult satiny or shiny dresses and make a fish tail, I only hand sew but looks fantastic, seashell necklaces and floaty pieces of green and blue chiffon.a crown of seashells would also look spectacular sprayed gold

  • You could make your own templates for decorations. Use butchers paper and create your won pin the tail on the mermaid. Many art stores will have stencils and stamps which you could also use for decorations and party bags.
