Hello!

I am trying to toilet train my 3 year old daughter but she keeps getting upset every time I ask her to use the toilet. She understands why people use the toilet and she knows when she needs to wee or poo. I have tried letting her sit on the toilet until something happens, sticker reward charts, food rewards for using the toilet but I am still not getting anywhere. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do next? I am concerned that she wont be able to go to preschool in a few months if she doesnt learn soon.

  • Have you tried cutting a hole in a nappy/pull up and letting her go to the potty with the nappy/pull up on? She might like the security of her nappy/pull up and find it too scary on the big toilet with nothing on.

  • Try making it fun in there for her. You could sing songs or play eye spy or something similar. even read a book in there with her. But honestly is she’s not ready she wont go. Also have you tried a potty over a toilet? a lot of kids are scared of falling in

  • don’t stress mama! just keep trying, don’t make it a big deal. try to make it fun and she will do it and you will be sooo happy :) it is new so she just needs her time. i am sure that the daycare will be understanding.
