Hello!

Please help. My little man is 12 months and wakes 5-7 times a night and he has done so since 6 months. We are getting very frustrated as we have started a bed time routine and are trying to put him to bed at the same time each night but it’s a battle. No luck yet. Does anyone have any gentle techniques that we could try to get our little man to self settle and sleep longer than 1 sleep cycle? (Please no CIO).

  • About 15 minutes before bed advise your son that it will be time for bed and wind them down and try not to over stimulate them. When time for bed advise child it is time for bed then ensure you have routine for them. Brush teeth, toilet, read book, kiss goodnight, bottle of milk and lights out. Also check child’s diet and try to stick to clean unprocessed foods. If all else fails checkout Ngala website.

  • I have to agree with your asking the GP and seeing if they have any solutions!

  • Maybe speak to your GP and see if they have any ideas? Or a sleep clinic? Maybe try some relaxing music on through the night? I wouldn’t stress too much though :)

  • hard to say. i would just snuggle the kids a little longer lol. don’t stress, do what works for you

  • Wear him out before bedtime. An hour before do some settling time with him. Play music read a book etc. put the light out. Dont have a monitor in there too as you will hear every noise and no mum gets rest. Let him grizzle abit during the night. Dont rush in. He might go back to sleep. Like the sleeping bag too.

  • My son was like this when we stopped wrapping him. I found it was because he was getting a little cold – even in the warmer months. A sleeping bag really helped for us. Also, make sure you are not putting him to bed too early – it may be that he’s needing a little less sleep and a later bed time might make a difference. I found it was a lot of trial and error at that age and wish you lots of luck!
