Hello!

What are your recommendations for personal mosquito repellant? We find our roll on misses bits and is difficult for kids to put on easily. Spray-ons are problematic too. Which do you prefer, and what brands or other alternatives?

  • I recommend bushman spray with extra deet. It is strong and makes a huge difference to mozzies and midges.

  • Eucalyptus Oil is very good. Insects loathe it. There is a Mozzie Buster plant that looks similar to a geranium or pelagonium. The plant may now have a new name. You break a leaf and rub it on your skin. I suggest you try it on a patch skin to ensure you have no allergic reaction. I don’t use Aerogard at all as it gives me a headache. Steer away from products that have DEET in them- if they are still sold. Unfortunately mozzies seem to get immune to some products after awhile and they just don’t work.

  • well i found that after going fishing, that a very popular brand name spray, had leaked in a bag and ate a big hole in it so that really put me off using it. i wonder what it is doing to us.

  • My daughter gets eaten alive with mozzies so I bought her OFF! Clip on it provides up to 12 hour head to toe protection is odorless and refillable. You can also buy band ones that you put on her hand/legs from chemists.

  • Aerogard works well and we also use a Citronella candle outside – of course up and away from the kids. It does help keep the mozzies away!

  • We use Aerogard and find it works perfect!

  • If you go to a supermarket or pharmacy such as Priceline , you will find a lot of brands have repellants that are made from natural ingredients and I used it for my kids with they were very small. Of course I can’t remember the name can I , but just ask the sales person and I am sure they can help you .
