Hello!

How can I get my 3 year old son (4 in Feb) to go to the toilet at daycare? He lets me know when he needs to go and does number 1’s in the toilet, even at the shops. But he won’t go at daycare. Any suggestions or advice would be good.

  • I’m struggling with this too, except that she does well at times then goes backwards. I was hoping seeing the other kids at kinder would help but time will tell.

  • Try and get him to go before you leave perhaps!

  • I had a similar problem and found it was because the staff had designated toilet times.

  • there are some good comments here

  • How is he going now?

  • Tough one! Ask his day carers for advice…?

  • do staff at the day care have any suggestions? maybe you can take him when you drop him off at the day care?

  • It definitely needs to be an effort by the carers to encourage him.

  • The day care staff will help you solve the situation by offering strategies to assist him talk to them about your concerns

  • Need to talk with day care workers as they should be encouraging him to go to the toilet.

  • Maybe get him to go to the loo with you before you leave. That way you do it as a routine with you there. Then he might feel more comfortable.
