Hello!

My little guy is definitely ready to be toilet trained – telling me when he is ‘weeing’ and ‘pooping’ however he forgets to tell me when he needs to go (even though I ask him every 5 minutes) because he is such a busy little guy – constantly on the go!

  • I agree he doesn’t sound lazy to me. My 9yr old -who has a delay- still gets distracted and forgets (to tell she needs) to go

  • He’s not lazy. Most kids go through this sort of behaviour. All you can do is keep asking – often. And praise him if he remembers for himself.

  • Make it a game so he learns to associate going to the toilet as being a happy and rewarding experience which he will grow out of when he is older.

  • It is a challenging time. Just keep asking, using underpants and maybe consider rewards or making a huge fuss when he does make it to the potty

  • The best advice i have ever heard is to put them in undies so they know the feeling of being wet and to schedule toilet breaks

  • It will happen when he is ready

  • Set up an reward system, give him a sticker each time he uses it. After so many stickers give him a reward

  • Get a potty that you have near him. Remind him to use it.. Beats accidents and running him to toilet only to be too late. Just keep a potty close by.

  • I found rewards worked with my busy boy. A handful of smarties or stickers on a chart each time he tried to go to the toilet (at the toilet). Good luck

  • so i would just say that he is an active child rather than a lazy one lol. too busy to stop for the potty! make sure to try to sit him on the potty when you know that he usually goes. After meals, before baths, bedtime. he will get better at it and just keep being encouraging. He will get there and it seems that you guys are on the right track
