Hello!

How can I stop my daughter from grinding her teeth? My 16 month old daughter grinds her teeth. Some days she starts and there is nothing that will stop her! I’ve tried rusks, biscuits, toothbrush and nothing seems to stop her from continually grinding her teeth together. Suggestions?

  • Thanks for asking same issue here, my friend has told me the more you focus on it the worse it gets, so hard yo desl with!

  • there are some good comments here

  • I hope you have more luck than I did with this, when my daughter was about two she would grind her teeth non stop even in her sleep. I tried everything to no avail, but in the end she eventually grew out of it at about 4 and a half ( so it took a couple of years ) but I am happy to say that it didn’t cause any permanent damage and our dentist told me it is normal in this age group.

  • Did you find a way that works?

  • It lasted around a month and she hardly does it all now :)

  • i hope its worked out :)

  • Hope you found some useful tips and advice.

  • What did you end up doing to stop it?

  • my 23 month old daughter is at this stage atm. she is disabled so it is hard to explain to her not to do it. Its just a faze all kids go though but if it doesn’t stop after a while then i’d take him for a visit to the dentist. good luck.

  • I hope you found the answer you were looking for.

  • I don’t’ think you can, hopefully its just a faze.

  • Teeth are still pretty new to a child this age, the feeling of teeth in her mouth is odd and I think she will get bored with it after a month or two and grow out of it.

  • I don’t think anything can stop this, other than a mouth guard an I wouldn’t recommend one on a child. Talk to yoru dentist about it if it really is a concern

  • I think it is just a phase my son done it for a little while and then suddenly stopped

  • I don’t think there is anything else much you can do, hopefully she will grow out of it, I wouldn’t be too concerned yet :)
