  • I wouldn’t personally, but I’m a wee bit “anal” when it comes to things like that. I’ve got a set of 4 different coloured chopping mats, and I use the red one for meat & fish, green for vegies, yellow for fruit, and the blue one for miscellaneous foods. They’re readily available and you don’t need to pay a fortune either.

  • I clean my boards in the dishwasher and they come out really clean. I wouldn’t use same board if you are only handwashing them.

  • Actually have 2 separate chopping boards! One for meat and one for veg, don’t mix even after washing.

  • I always use different ones.

  • you shouldnt mix up the boards. all boards are for separate foods.

  • i do … very bad :(

  • there are some good comments here

  • Some good advice there below.

  • Food hygiene regulations stipulate separated boards for meat and vegetables so I use both. However if the board has been scoured with hot water and cleaned so that it has no residue on it, it should be ok.

  • I only have two chopping boards. a little one and a large more useable one. A good wash in between uses they are multipurpose.

  • I do, just wash really well in between – have never had an issue

  • I prefer to use different ones – you can get cheap plastic ones which are colour coded which I think is a better option

  • i would use different ones

  • Yes its ok if you clean with hot soapy water and give them a good scrub after each use, and don’t leave the boards to sit with raw meat on them for a long time. If there are a lot of scratches in the board its not good because meat can get trapped in there and breed bacteria.

  • yes just make sure you do clean the bard with hot soapy water in between!
