Hello!

I’m a bit embarrassed to admit this but I miss my cleaner so much. Unfortunately because of Coronavirus, I’ve had to put her on hold and I have no idea when she’ll be back. So now I need to clean our place (I’ll rope in my 3 messy kids to help out). My question is – what is the essential ‘toolkit’ to clean your house (she used to bring her own products). Should I get natural / chemical-free products? Do I need separate cleaning products for the bathroom/kitchen etc. How many brooms/mops/ sponges / cloths / pairs of gloves do I need? I know this sounds ridiculous but would love some help in setting up cleaning essentials (and if you have any recommendations of your fave cleaning products, that would help too!) Thanks so much!

  • Just a heads up that buying everything in one go will be very expensive. Try to buy products when they are on sale. There are so many products to choose from, and I’ve found the environmental ones to be very expensive and not very good at cleaning anything.

  • Highly recommended aldi products

  • I have Mr Sheen or similar for the furniture. Bleach and disinfectant forvlaundry and bathroom, along with a bottle of Jif. Rags from ripped up old clothes. Mop, bucket, vacuum. You should be embarrassed, not knowing the cleaning basics

  • Mop and floor cleaner. Broom. Bleach/Domestos. Multi pack Microfibre cloths/ scourers. Windex multi purpose and glass spray. These are my main items and then various things as I find/need them.

  • I have one mop, one sponge for the kitchen, another one for the bathroom, a dusting cloth, another one for windows and glasses, another cloth for outside. A floor detergent, a cleaning cream, window cleaner, all-purpose cleaner, toilet cleaner. The hoover of course, and that’s quite it.

  • Mop and bucket /floor cleaner for mopping
    Pinoclean /dettol /sponges
Pack of disposable gloves for when ur cleaning bathrooms
    White king
    Windex for windows
    Mr sheen spray for Dusting

  • I’ve a mop downstairs, in the bathroom upstairs and in the master bathroom, idem for clothes and cleaning products; in the bathroom downstairs, in the bathroom upstairs and in the master bathroom. And then I’ve have separate cloths & cleaning products for the kitchen
