Hello!

I am now getting more marketing mail and I have been sending it R.T.S (return to sender) but if I put NO Thanks on it will they remove me from the mailing list? Can you send back marketing post?

  • I use their own return envelopes to send back all their crap with a note asking them to stop sending me crap. It costs them money doing this. There is almost always a return envelooe in the stuff they send out.

  • I tend to do the RTS thing, then if it is still received, I call them. Most have a free call or local call number and ask them to remove me from their list

  • Many companies are super lazy about return to sender mail and often don’t action them. If you want to be removed from marketing lists the best thing you can do is pick up the phone.

  • Another way to make them get the hint if they have enclosed a Reply Paid Envelope is to put all of what you received when you have written them a note on it giving them your instructions. They have to pay Aust. Post for the postage. Hopefully they will save themselves some money by not sending you another one. When you put RTS on an envelope always cross out any barcodes on the front and back or you may get it back again.

  • I’d just send back as “Not at this address”. See how they like receiving all of their junk back.

  • Most marketing (read ‘junk’) mail you get will have a small box at the bottom with the fine print such as ‘if you do not wish to receive any further mail from us, please tick the box and return this form to us’. If you receive any mail with this or a similar message, just tick the box, highlight it with the highlighter pen for good measure, and return it to the sender at their stated address. Many times you will receive a prepaid (or no postage required/reply paid) envelope from them in your pack, so make use of this to save yourself the postage. Other times you might have to call the sender and ask to be removed from their mailing list. Most companies will respect your wishes and remove you from further marketing mail outs. For those who don’t, I usually just send them back their empty reply paid envelope (sealed) so they can pay for the postage. That’s my small way of inconveniencing them financially for the inconvenience they have put me through by sending me unwanted mail in the first place … :-)))

  • I agree with all the answers,” Return to Sender” and a note to be “removed from their mailing list”,and unsubscribe any e-mails.

  • I write return to sender and please remove me from your mailing list effective immediately.

  • I just throw in bin, I have no idea though, I get heaps of craps and it’s such a waste of resourses, especially when they can do it digitally.

  • Yes I do return to sender, I’m sure they get sick of paying postage both ways for no return!

  • I’d write to them or send an email and ask them to remove you. Any emails you get like that should have an “unsubscribe” option at the bottom (usually in tiny print that is hard to see!)

  • Thanks for asking this question; following as we are overflowing with mail!

  • Some “junk mail” in envelopes is actually delivered by Australia Post instead of them using catalogue distributors. I would still send them back, they will either go back to the sender or they will end up in the “dead letters” section
