  • Thank you everyone for your replies to my question. Looks like I am will have a hard time dyeing rubber. I am not sure if the rubber on my shoes is synthetic or not. Thanks for all your help!

  • I don’t know if yo can dye rubber. Perhaps speak to someone at a spotlight store for their recommendation

  • You’d be wasting your time as rubber isn’t porous & would repel the dye.

  • I have never heard of dyeing rubber. I’m not sure whether paint would stick to them either. I would find an expert at a Rubber Store to see if it is possible.
Is it genuine rubber or synthetic rubber??

  • I too doubt that you will ever be able to dye rubber as the colour is mixed into the rubber at time of manufacture. I did read there is a product called Rubberbond.

  • Dye needs to be absorbed by the material to take effect. So I doubt it would work on rubber shoes. Google what would be suitable to use. Good luck

  • I tried to dye rubber and was unsuccessful however it will dye the fabric parts of the shoe so be careful good luck

  • I doubt fabric dye would stick to rubber. You might need to Google what sort of base you need to apply to the rubber to allow paint to stick to it.
