Hello!

Just wondering what age your children got chicken pox. Did you take them to a Pox Party? What were the pros and cons of taking them. Thanks :)

  • OMG. I’m sorry, but I think Pox Parties are insanely irresponsible. I got my kids vaccinated.

  • I thought the idea of pox parties went out with the stone age….oh yes and the introduction of the vaccine.

  • A pox party?!?! What a ridiculous idea! Have you any idea how much damage can do to your child? If you did, you’ll avoid a pox party. One of my kids was 4 and her brother was 7 when they got chicken pox. Isn’t there a vaccine for it now?

  • I have never heard of it too. I don’t think I would do it though. Why would you send a child to pick up a disease?

  • I have never heard of a pox party. But by reading about it now, I would never take my kids to one. My kids are 7 and 4…have not yet had the chicken pox and they are immunised.

  • Does this mean you are anti vaccine? I’ve never heard of this and don’t think it’s advised or promoted. I would suggest it’s outdated like someone else said it was dkne 50 yrs ago

  • Never heard of one and haven’t really considered it,

  • I personally would never host or take my child to a pox party…

  • so basically for those that don’t know- the idea is that when a child gets chicken pox, other children come over to catch it. I wouldn’t purposely participate in one though because i would feel bad. A lot of people will argue that it’s better than getting it when they grow up etc but i couldn’t do that to my child.

  • NEVER NEVER NEVER PURPOSELY GET YOUR CHILD SICK. intentionally making your child sick is CHILD ABUSE. not all children get chicken pox and that’s OK they are better off not getting it. chicken pox reoccurs as an adult in the form of shingles which can be deadly i should know it killed an uncle of mine. just talking about a pox party is crazy! its insane. OMG if you want to build up there immunity get them vaccinated thats what vaccines are designed to do, plus as a bonus they are safe doctors have spent years making sure of this. chicken pox on the other hand is unsafe.

  • My daughter got chicken pox when she was about 2.5-3yrs (she’s now 10) but the immunisation wasn’t part of the schedule, you had to pay for it. We couldn’t afford it at the time so she picked them up somwhere. It is part of the immunisation schedule now so children these days may not get it as often as they used to :o)

  • Chicken pox can be quite dangerous for an unlucky few. A vaccination has been available for about 15 or so years, so why would anyone risk their child being sick unnecessarily. I’ve heard of pox parties years ago and thought that was a bad idea then, and think its a really bad idea now.

  • There is no set time they get the chicken pox I had 4 children from 11 to 1 all have the chicken pox at the same time …

  • I have never heard of a Pox Party

  • I got it before I could remember. Don’t they get vaccinated against chicken pox now?
