  • We don’t decorate outside but would consider doing something if I had the big wooden pallet christmas trees, or even nativity figures that some make from wood. Then you can enjoy during the day and maybe use a single spotlight at night to keep it simple.

  • it is loads of work, but so worth it to see the smiles on the kids and adults faces, if you can afford it do it.

  • For inside, you can save Christmas paper from this year then cut it into lengths long enough to glue or tape the ends with sticky tape and make a chain which you can hang inside around windows and door frames. You have to loop one piece of paper through the next one to make the chain. One year my cousin made one and gave it to her Grandma. It was so long that she draped it across the top of a window, through an arch way and around the wall to another window, more wall then part way across another window.

  • Using solar ones is so brilliant.

  • Solar lights are becoming a big thing as they don’t use power. I’m slowly building my collection up lol

  • A couple of nights before Christmas I look up a list of the local lights and we go for a drive to enjoy the efforts that others put in :)

  • We don’t decorate outside. Only thing we do is the front door.

  • We don’t do lights for this reason but opt for other decorations like signs and tinsel etc.

  • Solar LED lights apparently uses very little electricity so make sure the pack says LED and a lot of them can be used outdoors as well so check packaging instructions ,

  • I agree that solar powered decorations is a good idea.

  • How about solar LED twinkle lights :) As for other decorations – a friend actually made some recently from dried/candied fruit that has made her whole house smell citrus and delicious :)

  • there are many solar options available these days and many are quite lovely and also budget friendly.

  • We put lights outside but they are of the solar variety!! I also have a few flags and off course the Santa Stop Here sign!

  • Solar solar lights everywhere it’s worth the extra amount as there’s no surprise bill in January

  • We don’t put up many lights for this reason but have since invested in solar variety
