Hello!

We are considering installing a couple of “Whirly Birds” (roof ventilation units) on our roof and wondering if they really work. Has anyone had them installed in their home recently and did you notice a big difference the temperature? Do you think they are worth the money for the difference they make? Thanks

  • If you have bathroom exhaust fans that discharge steam into the roof cavity, then having a whirly bird is an excellent way to keep the roof cavity ventilated.

  • Sounds great! Really interesting comments read on this!

  • great question. we have an expensive actron reverse cycle system but having a large open plan room with high ceilings, we need something else

  • They are wonderful! they take the hot air out, they are brilliant and the only cost is them and installation.

  • They make all the difference, especially in summer!! All of that heat that’s trapped in the roof really puts a strain on the airconditioning, we moved last year and the new house has 2 on the roof and we barely had to use the airconditioning on the warmer days of summer whereas the previous house, it was running 24/7. Great investment

  • Yes, they are a must have, we had them installed on the roof in our previous house and this current one when we had our new roof done – they do make a difference.

  • they are great – work really well

  • It’s great for the airflow, but if you are like us and are happy to leave windows wide open then you won’t notice that much of a difference.

  • there are some good comments here

  • Not sure. I don’t have them, How did you end up going anyway?

  • I have one and yes they are worth it, even just for the airflow

  • A friend of mine has them and she said it makes a lot of difference

  • We have them – think they’re fantastic :)

  • thinking about getting some of these too – great responses and looks like people are really happy with them

  • did you end up getting them?
