  • We generally don’t buy it, I can’t justify the extra cost. We do grow some of our own veges and fruit though. We only have a court yard but grow, strawberries, blueberries, herbs, onions and carrots. This cuts the cost down a little.

  • I find it too expensive for our budget. But as others have suggested, produce markets are pretty affordable. if you have the room, try growing a couple of your favourite veggies; carrots and zucchinis are pretty easy to get growing. If any of your friends are interested in organic, maybe each grow a different veggie, so in the longterm you cangrow your own veggies pesticide free. For now, find the markets, and bargain hunt at the big stores!

  • I only buy organic once in awhile…too expensive:(

  • It does cost more, but if you shop at an organic farmers market you can end up getting prices that aren’t too different to standard fruit and veg supermarket prices.

  • It does tend to be quite expensive so sadly we can only get things when they’re on special

  • Depends on where you shop. I find local markets great for cheaper organic fruit and veg. plus you are supporting the locals. check it out next time they are on.

  • Here locally we have a scheme where we can buy an organic box of fruit and veg each week, and its not really that expensive..

  • Yes it is quite expensive

  • have you tried aussie farmers direct. i think it would be better pricing as well as being delivered straight to your door. worth a try, you can always make a one time delivery

  • what did you end up deciding?

  • From the sounds of it, it is just as easy to wash the veggies yourself and save the money.

  • Some really useful answers here.

  • I think a mix of growing your own and maybe finding a local farmers market could work just as well

  • if you find it expensive. try just washing your normal fruit and veg in water and apple cider vinegar.

  • we have started growing our own :)
