Hello!

Hello! I am currently 8 days late for my period and have several pregnancy symptoms including fatigue, severe headaches, back pain, random cravings, and sensitivity to smells. I have been on birth control for the last several months and try to take it at or around the same time everyday. I haven’t missed any days but have taken it late by a couple of hours 2-3 times. I did have sex with my significant other on the 4th of this month which was 2 days after ovulation. I should have started my period on the 16th, but I am currently 8 days late. I have taken 3 pregnancy tests and all seem to show negative, but with a late period and having several symptoms I’m scared I may begetting a false negative. has anyone else had this issue, or am I testing to early possibly? With my first child I was about 5-6 weeks pregnant when I found out and had a very faint line on the test. Please help! Thanks :)

  • Is it possible that your iron levels are low. That was how a friend of mine found out she was pregnant. The Pill is not 100% foolproof for some women. I also know of another woman who had a tubal litigation but still got pregnant as one of the clips they used came undone. They didn’t cut and knot her tubes because of her age despite her having problems during her first pregnancy.

  • How did you go with this one as I was experiencing the same thing a while back. I went to the GP and did a blood test, I was low in iron not pregnant. Hope it all turned out well for you. But if you’re in the pill you likely don’t ovulate as that’s the point of the pill, unless it’s been ineffective

  • Blood test can confirm, how did you go has been couple of weeks

  • If you’re on the pill normally I would suggest you wait for a few days and see if it stress as others have suggested. Given your symptoms including pain I would go to your GP now, Unfortunately there could be other issues. A minor one could be low iron levels

  • It could be your body being out of sync. Stress can also contribute. I’d see my GP just for the peace of mind :)

  • Stress and over thinking can cause late period. Sometimes test needs more time after missing period to get “correct” answers.

  • It’s possible to be a false negative however you could retest in a few days or if concerned ask the doctor to do a blood test which can be more sensitive

  • Yes, I struggled the first time for a positive go get a blood test done :)

  • You might need to visit the gp for a blood test. That may give you more conclusive information?

  • It sounds unlikely that you’re pregnant, but it might be best to get a GP test to be sure.

  • Try an early detection pregnancy test like clearblue with the actual ‘pregnant’ or ‘not pregnant’ indicator. I found this to be accurate. Also, depending upon what pill it is (normal or mini pill) this would make a difference too – I was told by a dr that with the normal pill obviously it is best to take it the same time every day but that an hour or two here isn’t the end of the world, however, the mini pill you do need to take on time or it can be ineffective. Best bet is to visit the GP for a blood test.

  • I have false negatives before. All 3 out of the same box. Maybe try a digital test

  • Yeah either that or your period is just off?

  • Could be a false negative but could also be a negative. Your gp will do a blood test anyway to determine. Pregnancy testes are early detection these days but seeing as you got a faint line at 5/6 weeks – you possibly would have to wait a bit longer if you are pregnant.

  • I would wait for a few more days and re do the test or go to GP
    Good luck
