Hello!

Needing some creative and interesting craft activity ideas for my son who is TOTALLY not into craft. I want him to have some exposure to craft though for fine motor skills and creativity.

  • We did a lot of recycle craft with empty milk boxes, bottle tops, egg boxes etc. I remeber one time we made all kind of farm animals and a farm. All we used is recycle boxes, scissors, paint and glue

  • Coloured paper, scissors and glue and just let him go for it.

  • Make a cardboard box into a car by decorating it. Straps over the shoulders work well to run around with. You can also make a ten pin bowling set from empty cartons/bottles and a ball made out of scrunched paper.

  • My son loves the diamond dot pictures, where you stick little dots on to make a picture. We bough him some pokemon sticker ones, which are very basic, and he spends hours carefully putting them together.

  • He could make a garage out of cardboard box he can paint it do a door help him stand up make sure the door is big enough to get his hand in he can draw a petrol bowser on the front put a straw as a nozzle such as a straw and he probably has cars or trucks he can use or take him shopping to buy some trucks and cars. My son loved his cars and trucks even outside he could build something in the sand.

  • My son loves water painting, bonus very little mess. He also loves stickers and recently wants to make paper planes all the time. Found a book on how to make different planes. You could also look at age appropriate at home science experiments. Combine it with his interests and it should work well.

  • Finger paint. My toddler loves it!

  • Do some homemade paint your finger painting. There are quite a few different ones, including food dye in bubble mix. Blow the bubbles onto paper and see the patterns it makes.

Shadow drawing was a big hit all around during remote learning too

  • playdough, chalk drawing, sticky tape and cut out pictures.

  • You can get a rock painting kit from kmart for ten bucks.
You can spend some time together looking for the rocks then paint them together!

  • Slime is always fun, painting, origami ninja stars or dinosaurs, finger painting. Have a look at Kmart at their craft range they have some really cool make your own mugs, money box’s ect for kids

  • Cut pictures out of magazines and make collages. Put some liquid sop into some paint and use a straw to blow the bubbles onto paper. YouTube is a massive help with this.

  • Paints
    Stickers
    Scissors
    Glue
    Pencils
    Textas
Take him shopping to buy the arts and crafts. What are his other interests? Try and incorporate them into his art project. And make it fun!
    Good luck

  • My son loves to cut pictures out of magazines and then glue them on to card. It will keep him occupied for ages and it’s a great fine motor skill.

  • Playdough would be enough to strengthen his fingers and is lots of fun.
