Hello!

I want my daughter to make presents this year instead of buying them. It means so much more to receive something that has been made especially for you. We are already painting a picture but am now stuck on ideas. My daughter is almost four. Thanks

  • Paint a picture ofr each person!

  • Candles in glass with rope tied around them.

  • I think it’s called salt dough? You can make ornaments and such out of it :-) or paper mache something

  • Some fantastic ideas here that I’m going to bookmark for next Xmas. Can’t believe I’m already thinking about next Xmas!!!!

  • wow i never knew that you could make your own car fresheners! that is awesome!

  • This year the boys (4 and 2) and I made car freshners with essential oils for their teachers – The boys had fun making them and the teachers loved getting a hand made gift.
We made our own lotions/body butters for Grandma and our Aunts and cousins.
We also have done canvas paintings for the Grandparents – found them at the $2 shop and have a spot to include a pic of the boys, have christmas ‘clay’ ornaments to paint (also just from the $2 shop).
Kids at kindy made tree ornaments for their friends which was nice.
Handmade cards are always nice too.
Or 2yr old did a pic at daycare where he stuck leaves etc on a page and then the teachers laminated it or contacted it so it didnt all fall off – that was pretty cool.
I try to make things that others will find useful instead of getting stuff that just has to sit around.
Oh – you could make photoframes too with a pic of your daughter in it for loved ones.

  • Go to shops such as Spotlight or Lincraft where they specifically sell craft items. They have paper, cupboard , cards to make etc and I love browsing through these stores. At Spotlight you can join VIP club and get offers from the stores. Hope you and your daughter enjoy a crafty Christmas !

  • Tomorrow we will start doing a few things and will post some pictures. Thanks everyone for your ideas.

  • Not really a craft present, but google cardboard is pretty exciting and very cheap to buy on ebay. You install the free app on your smartphone, slip your phone into the cardboard cover and travel around the world whilst standing in the one position. Great for kids… and even adults!

  • When my kids were little I bought plain white mugs and bowls and two coloured glass paints. They decorated a breakfast set for each grand-parent. It was a great idea, the kids loved giving them and the grand-parents used them every morning.

  • I’ve noticed some amazing Christmas items you can buy & decorate yourself.
Last year I bought all the children paint your own money boxes & they were such a great hit because everyone could decorate their own together on Christmas Day.
Each year my sister makes me a small photo album with photos of her & her children from through out the year & I treasure each one I get because they are so meaningful, its amazing to see how they grow.
I also love the presents with hand prints & foot prints, you can do it on just about anything!
    & for a bit of fun, make Tye-Dye T-Shirts!

  • My son has made a lavender body scrub for his teacher and it worked so well that I’m thinking of making a big batch to give to all the family! I found the recipe on Pinterest

  • The idea of the snow globe is so good!!!

  • You could make necklaces and bracelets using large beads and thread elastic, or bookmarks.

  • We always do feet and hand prints on white canvase and place pic in between each hand print with a special message. We made one for hubby in Father’s Day with my little mans hands prints(dipped in paint) and then I put a pic of he and hubby and special message above pic and happy Father’s Day below.
