  • Yes, painful spasms that radiate through the calves and up the legs are very common among the expectant set. Although they can be felt during the day, they’re usually more noticeable at night, when fatigue and fluid accumulation are at their peak (and when you have all that quiet and stillness to ponder them).

  • Oh yes I can relate and remember those days . Sometimes the cramps came on suddenly in the middle of the night and I was yell out in pain and then hub would urgently massage my leg and then it would subside. What I was told by the doctor is being pregnant does not mean sit still often . Nope, it is the complete opposite . In fact as you progress down the line, you must walk more to even the circulation of the body . It is an old wives tale if someone says you must sit more and do less. I did a lot of housework and kept moving throughout the pregnancy and this will lead to a better health outcome for yourself and baby . If cramps get worse , go back to the doctor to get a checkup .

  • Massages help with cramping. Get hubby to give you a lovely rub down. :) It may be a lack of salt too. Could also be lack of blood flow due to lack of movement or due to where bub is laying

  • i used to have really sore hips from my hard mattress and luckily we bought a new soft one that really made the difference

  • Have started on Iron tablets not long ago so I’ll see how that goes

  • I had the same issue and was given iron and bio magnesium by my doc (NOT magnesium). Have a chat with your GP :)

  • Oooo I like orange juice, am going to stock up on that!

  • A friend of mine also took magnesium after talking to a Qualified Pharmacist who stocks natural products as well as others.

  • check with your midwife or doc first, but possibly try some magnesium, i had some bad cramps and this helped. orange juice i think is another good one to try.
