Hello!

Ok so here’s my story, husband was away for 2months obviously once he was home I was more then ready to head to the bedroom about 6 days later I got a surprise visit from Aunty Flow – it was very heavy but didn’t last long, after this I had a few home pregnancy tests left from another time.

Sitting on the toilet I had a chuckle to myself as I was doing it, my sister was at her house doing one too. My humorous support turned out with my sister getting a negative and I sat staring at my two lines one of which was very faint. I thought impossible right 10 days after sex no way lol.

Well over the 2 week period, 10 home pregnancy tests later all with the same light two line but becoming easier to see. One doctor appointment later he took my bloods and rang and informed me I am NOT pregnant. I was gobsmacked.

What happened I still hadn’t even missed a period let alone got one. Feeling crazy still waiting for AF only the 16th though :)

Has this happened to anyone else?

  • I have had a few false positives before it’s extremely weird, I think there must be soemthing with your hormones causing it.

  • i was pregnant and had faint lines. check the use-by-date. that is very weird. blood tests check for hcg as well i think. get the sticks that let you dip into a cup of urine. i had a friend miss and then soak the test’s screen and 2 lines came up but because it was all wet (think white tee shirt ) she wasn’t pregnant at all

  • Wow, haven’t heard of anyone ever getting that many false positives. Definently talk to another doctor..

  • I would definitely get a second opinion, for peace of mind if nothing else. My GP told me that it is possible to get a false negative in a HPT, but a false positive is much less likely. The fact that you have had several positive tests indicates that there is something going on, as the test is detecting something. Best of luck! :)

  • Hope you have been able to find some answers.

  • I would get further investigation and take another pregnancy test to find out if it is still positive. Hpt can be a sign of something else. I can’t remember what. Get it investigated- and get a second opinion if your gp doesn’t follow up.

  • I suggest you see your GP for follow up answers and to put your mind at ease; ask more questions until you are satisfied.

  • I was under the impression you couldn’t get a false positive from a HPT only a false negative. Please get it checked out further x

  • I would be getting an ultrasound or something. As getting mulitple false positives would be a sign for some sort of hormonal thing. Perhaps get another blood test in a week or two?

  • If definitely be looking into it further, you can’t have that many positive tests, definitely a visit to the gyno I think.

  • Since it was multiple tests that got a positive you really need to make sure your doctor finds out why. With so many tests its no way just a coincidence or faulty test. Dont let the dr fob you off get to the bottom of it.

  • I would visit your gyno. My aunt kept getting false +ve results because she had a cyst (I think it was on her ovary). It wasn’t a big problem but was mucking up her hormones.

  • Sounds very confusing for you. I have had a false negative, ie test was negative, but I was pregnant. But that was 16 years ago and I thought the tests would be more accurate now.
