Hello!

My daughter is now three months old and her head is covered in dry skin. What are some suggestions for dealing with cradle cap?

  • smother it in baby oil, works a treat

  • Use baby oil and brush off with a soft brush

  • I think that Apricot oil is the best and gentlest product to use

  • As suggested previously coconut or olive oil helps.

  • brush in baby oil, wait an hour and then wash it out in the bath. Daily until it is gone.

  • I used coconut oil on all five of my babes, and it worked a treat. Good luck, and don’t worry, its not a permanent thing :)

  • Good luck!

  • there are some great responses here, and there are special products for cradle cap also

  • we used olive oil workes great leave on over night then rinse the next day

  • I would suggest gently massaging her scalp with coconut oil, this will loosen it and make it easy to comb out. I also suggest that you use the coconut oil after her bath, not just on her head but on the rest of her body to keep her skin soft and supple. Often children who get cradle cap have dry skin too. Hope it works for you as it worked for my nieces and nephew.

  • My answer is the same as the other Mum’s who used baby oil.

  • i found baby oil is good for this

  • A lot of people use the bi-carb and water paste but I found that my daughters scalp went really red so I thought that wasn’t a good sign. I tried Rosehip Oil instead. I put some on my fingers, rubbed it in well to her scalp, then used a towel to dry her hair, and it was all gone.

  • i use baby oil. pour some on then leave over night. then next morning put a lil more on and with a fine comb comb it off. then repeat till al lgone.

  • Olive oil and a soft brush so help get it off. But they generally grow out of it after a while so nothing to worry about.
