  • I’ve read on another thread that a solution of tea tree oil and lavender oil sprayed on the hair will keep head lice at bay.

  • Treat the hair with treatment, then if you have a hair straightener use it….lots of hairspray in hair and I mean a lot and we also use Tea tree oil in a spray bottle with water here, comb hair everyday too.

  • My daughter seems to get more every day, I’m treating her hair once a week, washing bedding weekly, putting a preventative in daily and she still gets them…very frustrating

  • Head lice are a very common, very frustrating, part of childhood.
    & so easily spread!
Your local council can give/sell you a solution that is fantastic!
Make up a tea tree oil spray for after treatment to keep the pesky bugs away.
Don’t forget to hot wash EVERYTHING!
Head lice have built up a tolerance for most over the counter solutions.
Your other option is conditioner & a lice comb but it is a lengthy process.
    Good luck.

  • As bad and stupid as it may sound. Advantix just 2 drops works a treat for months,

  • I use cheap conditioner and put it on the kids hair everyday then comb it – you usually have to treat them for around 3 weeks to make sure all the eggs are gone.

  • You need the whole centre to get rid of them so you are not constantly treating.

  • just treat, it is a never ending saga for a lot of parents

  • I’ve found Quit Nits defence spray is awesome :D

  • I have a phobia about head lice (this will probably leave me scratching and itching even thinking about it) KP 24? I think it’s called….save the organic for food! This is lice, you want them to die!

  • Yes a trip to the chemist, they always have a good range and some more natural than others.

  • Chemist has good treatments – constantly checking using conditioner and a knit comb also helps.

  • Go to the chemist and buy Headlice treatment and use if neccesary Tell kids not to share hats or combs

  • my son used to come home constantly with head lice after starting prep this year. I was at witts end until I found a facebook page called, Nit Free For Me. you can get boys or girls smelling ones and they work a treat! my son has not had them since and ive been using it for 3 months now. you have to make sure all the lice and eggs are dead before using as it is a treatment to keep lice away. a good way to kill all the lice and eggs is mayonnaise, lather their head then wrap in cling wrap. but I definitely recommend Nit Free For Me to keep the lice away! <3

  • Thanks heaps ! Wondering this myself.
