We just bought a house and the previous tenant was very dirty. All the kitchen cupboards have a horrible sweet smell to them (laminate) and I’ve used nil odour but it only makes the smell worse. What are some other remedies? Do you have any ways of dealing with smelly kitchen cupboards?

  • Some good advice there below.

  • Place some open containers of BiCarb around, they will absorb any odours and maybe wipe them out with an oil such as peppermint or tea tree (or lemon or vanilla)

  • The vanilla fridge cleaner is quite good and so is a good quality glass cleaner on some things.

  • Did any suggestions below help?

  • how did it turn out?

  • What ways did you deal with the smell?

  • Bicarb soda in a bowl works well

  • oh no! hope you found something that worked for you.

  • Hope you have found a product that has helped.

  • I would try vinegar and then take it from there, Vinegar is always my ‘go to’ solution.

  • What did you end up finding?

  • The Karcher brand of steam cleaner is also an excellent little cleaner.

  • I would use a steam cleaner this would eliminate the smell and germs.I have a H20 steam cleaner and the attachments allows evrything to get a good steam clean

  • A mixture of vinegar with teatree oil-the teatree has great antibacterial properties.

  • it may be the residue of whatever they used to kill mold, were there any visible water marks in the cupboards? vinegar and water work to kill mold, a natural way to clean.
