Hello!

If it wasn’t for a medical condition, what was the reason behind the choice?

Did anyone choose to have a caesarean section?

  • I had a C-section for bub2 because I had a 3rd degree tear with bub1. There was a good chance that I would have torn again & there was no telling what the severity would be. So my doc said it was up to me & I opted for the C-section because bub2 was larger than bub1 & I didn’t want to risk a worse tear & faecal incontinence.

  • I considered it, in the middle of labour, cos it hurt so much. But having since seen other women who had one, I’m glad I didn’t. Recovery is so much faster from a normal labour.

  • I know a lot of Asians overseas will have a c section so they can control the birth time and date of their child ( which is believed to influence their fate and future)

  • i planned on going back to work early so had no intention of a cesarean

  • I haven’t but many in my family have. They always said from the very start that natural birth was not for them and that they would be having elective cesareans. I am studying to be a Midwife so I may be a little bias but research in depth both options and choose what is best for you and your circumstances.

  • I work with someone who said she elected to have one as she thinks her bits are small and didn’t want to go through birth. It takes an average of 6wks to get over a c section and you’re not meant to lift or drive in that time (I’ve been told but don’t understand how this works for anyone!) whereas you can recover from a vaginal birth in a day

  • No way I was forced to have one as my placenta was in the way and the two babies after I gave birth naturally I found c section very painful and long term recovery

  • Both of my babies were transverse. With my first my waters broke but she wasn’t engaged so after about 36 hours I had a Caesarian. With my second she stopped growing so we had an ‘elective’ Caesarian. It’s nothing something I would recommend as a choice. My scar still hurts. Recovery takes a long time. It is really difficult to look after a newborn after abdominal surgery, even harder when you have a toddler in tow.

  • I had a Caesarean section for my first baby because the placenta low lying and my doctor also recommended for it.

  • I had a caesarean for our first baby because baby was a Frank Breach (bottom first & feet around her head) and other complications. I then had 3 natural births after that. It took me 15 months to get over my caesarean because I got an infection but it was the safest option for bub and me at that time. I did not want to go through that again, and my scar still bothers me from time to time.

My sister in law had a caesarean for her first after failure to progress in very long labour, and chose a caesarean for the next 2 bubs because she found it easier and didn’t want the fear of labour not progressing again. She was on her feet in days, no problems at all.
My cousin had a caesarean for twins, then two more bubs the same because the doc didn’t want the risk of the previous scar tearing open (her bubs were closer together than mine). She had a bad infection after one, but no problems at all with the others. It took her a few weeks after each to be able to move about, lift things, drive, etc.
