Hello!

I have a 9, nearly 10 year old who firmly believes in Santa and the Tooth Fairy still and has a few times this year mentioned being one of the only ones at school. I don’t remember anyone telling me, growing up. I don’t lie and say Santa is real but I do say I believe in the Magic of Christmas. I’ve been willing to leave it for her to figure it out but she asked me directly very recently and I had an honest stall moment where I wasn’t sure how to answer. We were ‘saved by the bell’ in that moment and I’m not entirely sure the best approach. Open to hearing other experiences!

  • Best to be honest with your kids. They need to be able to come to you and get a truthful answer. We don’t do Santa but we explain to our kids that others do and we shouldn’t say anything to ruin it for them

  • We don’t believe in Santa in our household, and My 3.5 year old knows Santa isn’t real (but others think he is, and we are not to tell them otherwise) I would say if it goes on for much longer, is there a fear they may be bullied or teased by other kids, because they believe he is real? (only because kids can be super cruel)

  • I decided to never confirm or deny.
I want more children to always have a sense that there might just be a slither of magic still in this world.

  • Let them belive in it…

  • I would think that she will come across it on her own and and then you can explain to her the magic of Christmas and not spoiling it for others.
