I’m 4 years older than my wife and this situation was our first child, 38 years ago, as ‘Mr MOM’ my wife was reluctant to ask for my help. Back then it was rare for the father/husband to come forward and offer to help, as the wife’s Mother was usually involved or not far away.  I would guess as that “macho” has broken down some over the years fathers are now more involved. Do you ask for your partners help and if so how do you go about it?

  • Nope. I figured out early on that my partner was hopeless, so I never bothered asking for help. I plodded on by myself

  • I always ask for my hubby’s help, and he asks for mine, just a “Hey Honey, I need you” usually is enough to get either of us running to the other. We are both pretty accommodating of each other.
