Hello!

Mums, do you gift yourself something for Christmas? I know Christmas is all about giving, but am I being selfish to want a gift for me too? My hubby and kids pretty much leave all the present buying to me and if I don’t buy something for myself, I go without. Am I the only one who has to gift myself something? I’m open to ideas and would love to hear what other families do. Thanks!

  • My husband often doesn’t know what to get me. I may help him a bit but would always communicate about this before I go ahead things

  • No I dont.
I did however stop buying gifts for my husband after 20years of my buying for him and him not buying for me. HI figured hes was an adult and if he couldnt give then he wasnt receiving. He ended up buying gifts for me after 2 years of no gifts coming his way

  • Yes. And birthday gifts. Everything is always up to me.
I don’t mind though. Coz I get what I want. Instead of something I don’t really like.

  • Christmas can be so expensive so l would prefer to spend on family and we treat ourselves when we are budget friendly!

  • I buy for myself throughout the year so I don’t necessarily buy for myself at Christmas.

  • I think most mums do all the gift shopping. My husband doesn’t even know what the kids are getting until Christmas day. He does always get me a gift though as we write each other a list of items we would like and I always get myself something from santa.

  • One for you, one for me should be every Mum’s motto…lol

  • Hell yes! You are worth it. I buy myself a few things whilst out buying presents for the family.

  • We let each other know what we would like for Christmas, and if either of us find it on sale thats who will buy it. My husband found shoes this year he loved, and saw them during the Black Friday sales $100 off! So he bought them and I wrapped them for him, Team work!

  • I’m glad that plenty of mums make sure they get spoiled :)

  • You’re not alone. It slightly makes me upset but I do wish my family would put effort in like I do to get me a surprise to unwrap on Christmas. I love the thought put into making someone feel included.

  • Totally buy yourself something. A) because it means you actually get something
    B) it means you will like what you get
    C) it will make you happy.
    Enjoy :)

  • I have no qualms about buying myself a present for Christmas. My late husband did have an excuse as he was working all the time and we do live in a rural community. He would just apologise for not getting me anything and give me money to spend on what ever I wanted. Then along came the internet and he would buy me something that he thought I’d love and he was generally right. Wonder how your husband would feel if he didn’t get a gift? Go on girl, spoil yourself and make sure the tag says it’s to you from them picked by you.

  • I don’t think it’s selfish at all.
I’m sorry your hubby doesn’t buy you anything himself. Maybe subtly drop a hint that he should starting from this year?!

  • I’ve given up dropping heavy hints, the response is “if you want it, buy it’ so, yes, I’m in the same boat as you and buy myself a gift each year!
