Hello!

Do you usually do an annual ‘Spring clean’ where you do a big clear out of the house? If yes, when do you usually do it? Since we’re stuck at home now anyway, I thought maybe I would do a big clean/reorganise of our place. Are you doing that too?

  • I just tend to do it when the mood takes me. No special time.

  • Not really. I try to throw out five things a week at least or everyday. This is like rubbish or packing up kids clothes they have outgrown. It’s a good way to stay on top of accumulating things we don’t need or use

  • Mine isn’t a planned seasonal event it’s more I clean when I can’t stand looking at the clutter anymore.

  • Yep but instead of big ones i do little ones when i can

  • I don’t have the energy/time for a big clean of everything in one go. Instead, I do pieces throughout the month when I can. I decluttering constantly – whenever I spot something that needs it, but regular spring clean type tasks are listed once a month & I tick them off when done. I find going them at least once a month means the dirt doesn’t build up & it’s less work when I go to do it again the next month.

  • I do my windows once a year but usually try to keep on top of things weekly. That way the cleaning is not so overwhelming but still easier said than done!!!

  • I never do a big clean – too exhausting – but we’re slowly working through the house a room at a time, doing a bit of decluttering while everyone is home to help.

  • It is good to have a clean up/clean out at any time of the year. It feels good and cleanses the house and now is a good time for extra clean up/clean out projects.

  • Yes, we do a few big clear outs during the year. Spring is good as we normally do the clothes. Sorting out kids clothes into sizes and clearing out what doesn’t fit for each particular season usually keeps, that in check.

I also do the kitchen cupboards and try to use up anything going out of date. Great to do a check on what is in stock too and try to incorporate into new recipes or use in casseroles (things like tinned beans or veggies).

I try to do curtains and blankets in the warmer weather so that they dry well. And toys get a clear out before Christmas.

So maybe not so much of a spring clean but more seasonal cleaning to keep it all in check and make sure we’re not keeping things we don’t use.

  • no but i definitely should as we have accumulated so much stuff.

  • No I just try to clean as I go

  • We have a seasonal cleaning schedule which means cleaning jobs never build up. We plan the schedule for the year for big items that need cleaning; including servicing.

  • At the moment iam cleaning more everyday I guess have to keep busy

  • I don’t have to because hubby is a clean-a-holic. Honestly he’s always finding something to do – washing windows; vacuuming (even when it doesn’t need doing); cleaning the wooden floors; cleaning out cupboards; cleaning the car; cleaning out the garage and storage shed; cleaning his kitchen (because he also does 90% of the cooking. I stick with washing and ironing; banking, paying bills etc. Lucky me!

  • It’s all over the place at the moment for me I do what I can when I can but bed sheets are my mainly either Friday or Saturday is my “main clean” and then whatever I fit in around that daily like vacuuming, washing etc.
