Hello!

I’m 48 years old and I’ve never dyed my hair in my all life. Of course I’ve got some white hair. It already started some years ago. But at the beginning I was just pulling them out! :-)
I don’t know. I have fear to start. Then, if you don’t keep doing it, you will see the hair growing, and that looks even uglier to me.
And somehow I think that white hair and grey hair later on, has it’s charm! :-)
What do you think? Do you still have your natural colour?

  • The problem with dying your hair is that it grows out and you have to keep redoing it for it to look nice, which can make your hair very dry and destroy it.

  • I dye my own hair every three months or so. Some people actually look good with grey/white hair. Unfortunately I’m not one of them.

  • I dye my hair, but only because otherwise people assume I’m my kids’ grandma. Which upsets everyone!

  • I have dyed my hair in the past and it looked great but then l let it go natural and l like it!

  • I used to dye mine when I was younger but I just find it’s not a priority now. I do have a few white hairs coming through so that may change in the near future.

  • I can imagine! :-) I guess indeed that a shade closer to your natural colour is better than one completely different. It can be fun for a short time indeed. And see if we still recognize ourselves in the mirror! :-)
Yes, indeed, grey hair men are quite charming!! I wish more women would wear their grey hair proudly.
On Saturday I will turn 49. Well, I’m thinking of waiting till I’m 50 before trying to dye my hair!!! ;-)

  • I’m 39 and have a few white hairs sneaking through. I had pulled the odd one out in my fringe but mostly don’t worry. Last Christmas I dyed my hair and my teenage daughters hair for a special one off treat (we made a whole morning of it – nails, face masks, foot soak). The process was very simple, but I couldn’t for the life of me remember the brand I chose, except to say I bought it from our local chemist. Luckily, the colour I chose was only a shade or two lighter and quite similar to my own and 11 months on, its grown out enough to have those obvious white hairs back again, but the ends just look sun bleached or highlighted. It has made me think what to do when I’m older. I think I’ll go grey gracefully, but it was fun to say I’ve tried it and I’m so glad the colour I chose compliments my hair now. If it was a vastly different colour, I would have shaved it off by now!

  • well some will say that you look older, some will say that you wear it well. everyone will have an opinion so do what makes you happy. look at george clooney or richard gere and the ladies still want them lol. be proud to wear it grey :)

  • That’s nice! You had some support at the beginning that helped you to make the right choices!

  • I started dying my own there for a while at home. It wasn’t hard once I had the right formula and method in place. I went to a place that sells hair products and had them give me the low down on how to mix the activators and the correct ratios etc.

  • That’s good! Thanks for telling me your experience!

  • I dye my hair each month with a light blonde Loreal home kit.It works well & you can get it half the price, say $10 if you get it on sale.Totally satisfied,I’m also 48!

  • That’s so good to hear!! :-)

  • I have let mine go natural and I get lots of lovely and unexpected comments on how good it looks.

  • That’s very good! Not such a big commitment thus. Thanks for your answer too!
