Hello!

It’s not always easy to help our kids out of trouble, and I can’t help but feel like I could be doing more.

  • Being a mum is so hard as u want to help your children as much as possible, no matter how old they are. You want them to be free of worries and problems. I am certain you have done all that u possibly can. You sound like a very loving mother and that’s the most important thing your children need, your love and emotional support, especially when life is tough.

  • Depends what you are helping them with.

  • Who are they in “trouble” with? If it is consequences/discipline from school then I think they need to face that themselves without any intervention. But if they are getting bullied/ hurt and don’t know how to manage their peers then I think it might be appropriate to intervene – with view to equipping them to handle things better. eg if they are failing to ignore and walk away or assert themselves then that is something they need to learn and you can intervene to get the school or other to help. But it might not be a good idea to step in and try and do the fight for your kid!

  • Depends on their age. As they get older they should be taking more responsibility for their actions. If anything I found explaining why is better than helping as quite often they miss the reasoning you get from age and experience.
