Hello!

I have a one year old and a three year old and work full time. Mornings are hectic therefore I need hassle free breakfast ideas that they will actually eat. My one year old has a dairy intolerance so bonus points if the ideas are dairy free! Please help me!

  • Maybe pre- made breakfast muffins or mini egg and bacon quiche ( without cheese etc)

  • make up some bulk batches of oats they freeze really well (use silicon ice cube trays) and you just defrost in the microwave with a little extra soy/oat milk. Chia pudding is another good one just heat soy/oat/coconut milk to simmer take off the heat add chi whisk and its done it will absorb the milk as it cools and it can be frozen as well (use a ratio of 5 parts milk to 1 part chia) serve plain or with banana, berries whatever you have

  • wheatbix with coconut milk, coconut yoghurt with granola, banana pancakes (just banana with egg), oats with coconut milk, breakfast oat cookies, bread soaked in coconut milk sprinkled with cinnamon then fried and topped with raw honey (my kids LOVE this), slice of toast, zucchini pancakes

  • U can give them some nuts or fruits

  • breakfast muffins – pretty much a zucchini slice but in little muffin tins so they are bite size.

  • Maybe invest in a cheap breakfast recipe book. They are good and give plenty of ideas.

  • Fruit cut and served for each age is good for breakfast. Savoury and sweet Muffins which can be made earlier and replace any dairy with dairy free alternatives.

  • What about making pancakes in advance? You can replace the milk with a lactose free milk or non-dairy milk like almond milk, or we have used 1/2 cup of puréed fruit like bananas and apples in place of milk and eggs before. They’re easy for little hands to hold and they could eat walking to school or in the car if need be. My miss 4 will happily eat these cold.

    1 cup wholemeal flour
    1/2 cup milk/non-dairy milk/fruit purée
    1 egg
    1 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp sugar or honey (optional)
