Hello!

Do you make your own bread? Do you make it from scratch or do you use pre-mixes? Do you use a bread maker machine or bake it in the oven? What’s best?

  • I di sometimes and like to go from scratch. I don’t have a bread machine

  • I would love to make my own bread and experiment by adding olives, herbs etc.

  • I make GF bread as it’s cheaper than buying store bought bread.

  • My sister in law makes her own bread using a breadmaker. She makes the dough , put a timer in the breadmaker, then she wakes up with fresh bread in the morning. You just need to buy the ingredients for the bread and the machine does it all for you . Check it out at the dept stores .

  • I generally make my own rolls and scones instead of bread, I have made my own bread but since it can take a long time I don’t do it too often. When I do I always make it from scratch using family recipes because that makes it extra special to me.

If you’re interested in trying I’d say definitely go for it, just remember it’s not easy and you probably won’t get it right the first time. But it can be so relaxing and it’ll be something great you could pass on to your kids or grandkids.

  • No,have a bread machine the bread is too heavy & stale the next day.

  • Yes! Love baking bread from scratch in the oven. Rosemary & thyme cob, olive & caraway seed loaf, turmeric & goats curd loaf, apple & cinnamon loaf, banana & coconut bread……..

  • My mum makes home made bread once a week in a huge wood oven my dad built her .. I watch her although she uses simple ingredients and techniques ..it’s her experience that makes them perfect

  • I use a Bread maker but make it from scratch. I did have an awesome page bookmark until I updated my computer software. On this website you you could choose how big of a loaf you wanted and it would automatically change the ingredient amounts.

  • I’ve had a breadmaker for years. I don’t use it all the time but it’s a great machine that used at least half a dozen times a year if not more. It’s easy and with a timer so I set it up at night and then there’s fresh bread in the morning. The bread is denser than that store bough bread so it doesn’t last as long. And you can buy some amazing bread mixes from the supermarket now.

  • I really enjoy cooking and always looking to try cooking different recipes which are quick, simple and with few ingredients. I recently tried making Banana Bread using the Lighthouse brand pre-mix from Woolworths and the final product is absolutely delicious and fool proof to make! My girls liked it so much I went out the next day and bought 3 more boxes for the pantry. I now make banana bread each week. All you need is: milk, eggs, butter and ripe bananas, follow the instructions and 50 minutes later you can smell freshly baked bread…time for tea!

  • Interesting to read the comments! A good breadmaker!

  • Hubby bought me a bread maker for Xmas last year. Best present ever. Makes bread, mixes dough and pasta and makes jam. The bread is delicious. It makes a perfect loaf everytime. Making your own bread doesn’t always bring the same level of perfection

  • I love the smell and taste of fresh bread but don’t want to knead it forever and don’t have a bread maker :(

  • yeah there are also heaps of recipes online and some of them sound soooo good! bread smells lovely while it’s baking and i love eating warm bread
