Hello!

A mum has recently come under fire for packing a lunchbox for her partner. It would never even occur to me to prepare lunch for my hubby (he usually makes the lunchboxes for the kids) but I certainly don’t think any less of the mums who pack lunches for their lucky hubbies. Do you pack lunchboxes for your partner? I wonder if I should ask my hubby to start packing lunch for me!

  • I always do, out of love and me being the one who stays home. I know it isn’t for everyone, but it makes me happy to fill his lunch box with homemade meals and snacks. He works a very demanding job and wouldn’t get a chance to eat if it wasn’t packed and ready to go.

  • I didnt but if he would have eaten one then sure i would ahve happily packed a lunch for him….why not?

  • Yes absolutely.l have the food in the fridge instead of spending money every day and waiting in line for lunch! Too easy!

  • I sometimes do. But u more pressure him into packing his own lunch. He’s very much the tour to always but lunch which is not great for the hip pocket

  • I don’t pack a lunch, but I do a food prep once a week, freezer meals, so it’s on hand when he is getting ready to go to work. I do not see an issue packing a lunch for my husband. It wouldn’t bother me at all! Are we not a team?

  • My hubby packs his own lunch and I do the kids’ lunches for school. Very occasionally I will make a sandwich for him if he has a late start and I feel like it. I’d rather pack a lunch for my husband than have him buy takeaway all the time

  • Yes I do. I don’t understand why it was such a big blow up! My partner does a lot of niceties for me too! It’s a partnership!

  • He rarely needs a packed lunch as he is at home with me most times and we eat mid day and have a snack for tea. When we do have to be out at lunch time I usually pack our lunch as he is unable to eat what you can buy. Don’t see the bid deal either. Depends who has the time as to who mows the lawn, puts out or brings in the washing – we do everything whenever it is needed.

  • What’s wrong with doing it the night before while you are cooking the evening meal. Simply put in the fridge and he can get it when he is ready to leave home. It depends what he is having though. If he is taking fruit or refrigerated food you can put them side by side in the fridge so you just grab them. Depending on your husband/partner’s job he could suddenly be sent on a trip where there is either no or very little choice of food. Always make sure there is drinks for him to take, even if it is water.. Regardless if any of you travel in a vehicle you should always have some water in it so that if you are delayed or any reason at all – especially if your vehicle breaks down – you are less likely to dehydrate.

  • Majority of the time, I do. My partner leaves early in the morning and sometimes just forgets, then either eats nothing all day or buys something – both of which make him feel yuck if it’s too often. Packing his lunchbox makes things easier for him, he feels appreciated, i’m a lot more organised and can keep track of what meals are prepped and what needs to be done if I’m on it too. Some days I don’t, very rarely, but there are days and it’s not an issue.

  • I used to but only because he’s a lazy arse that wouldn’t do it himself.

  • I pack lunch (for all) and I shop! It makes sense because I know what we have in the pantry; rough sell-by dates etc. I think food would get wasted more if we all just did our own things. (I let the kids make and pack their own lunch and am forever frustrated that they “wont finish this” and “start a new that” meaning it’s harder to keep pantry stocked in budget.

  • Always have and still do, although he’s working from home at the moment, so now I get his lunch the same time I have my lunch at home.

  • Yes, I pack a lunch for my husband. I do it at the same time as I make my child’s lunch. It’s not that much more to pack him one too. He’s currently working at home more, and I make him lunch at the same time as I get my own. Packing a lunch generally has worked out cheaper than hubby buying a lunch everyday, and it’s better for his health as he was eating a lot of greasy takeaway. I’m sure if he was in the same position, that I was going to work and he was doing more home duties, he’d pack a lunch for us too.

  • It is good financially for the food budget and household budget to plan and pack lunches. It actually makes good economic sense.
