Choke chains are not usually recommended and I am quite surprised. I would get the advice of your vet. There is a lot of research that is not in favour of choke chains, they do not stop pulling, only training stops dogs from pulling. They choke the dog and can cause damage to necks. I agree with you and would not use one.
