  • Volunteer at an Op Shop. Difficult to stop buying treasures though.

  • I do less than I used to, due to new physical limits and little kids. I can’t help with doorknocking anymore for example. I help out at school with stuff like covering books for the library; donate to giving trees around christmas, and try to help out with one off events when I can.

  • No l don’t but have thought about the local op-shop to help out.

  • Yep, back to volunteering at the local school, they were desperate to keep the canteen open. And also one day a week at the aged care home

  • A volunteering program at your workplace sound interesting from the MoM below. I wonder how it works?

  • My workplace has a volunteering programme which I am a part of.. I love it!

  • Volunteering in my local community when I can makes me feel connected and good.

  • Still assessing what my health will allow. Probably at my kids school.

  • Since I have had two round of job losses , I am now volunteering twice a week at the local Vinnies store. It is a great way to learn new skills , talk to people and get fit at the same time .

  • Since having my little one, I am quite limited to what I can volunteer for. I am attending a young mums college and I am volunteering my time watching other mums little ones so they can study :)

  • Making my way through my spare wool to knit scarfs, beanies and lap rug for nursing homes, women shelters and others who may need them. Also jumpers for children in aboriginal reserves, the more colour used the better it seems for these.

  • I knit teddies which are used in Ambulances in sooth children being taken to hospital. Not only does it sooth them but it keeps little hands occupied making it easier for them to be treated.
The Emergency Departments in some hospitals use them too. Not necessarily for patients but the children or siblings of the patient according to a nurse in a hospital.
Some are also donated to other worthwhile charities, e.g. Ronald MacDondald House where children who have illnesses live with their parents while having treatment in the hospital.

  • I used to volunteer at the local school and SES, until my health prevented me

  • It is good timing that you ask this because I saw Peter Beattie on TV asking for Volunteers for the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast and I was wondering if he was volunteering his time or is he getting paid. hehe I am guessing it will be the latter.
