Hello!

We’ve got a 4 year old boy who just loves getting out in the garden. We visit garden centres. He collects the baskets. One for him and one for me. He picks a punnet of seedlings. Lately it’s flowers for spring. Then he walks to the counter with me. He says to the guy. We got plants. The guy said back thats great. Thats our motto. Then he collects a garden magazine to read in the car on the way home. When I planted the plants we found a snail. Then we watched the snail bubble up and come out. He’s alive. He was so excited seeing a snail. Back to the store next week. We buy cheap seedlings on the markdown table. With a lot of love and attention we try to make them healthy. Do your kids like gardening?

  • They sure like their wee own plants and seeds. But when it comes to real gardening and especially weeding, they’re gone ;)

  • I’ve never been into gardening so my kids were just the same. Although, now they’re grown up, my son is quite enthusiastic about it and his son loves it too

  • MIne loves gardening too. Flower power are doing free gardening classes these school holidays at 11am. You can get a strawberry or a flower to take home.

  • They love it. I think kids naturally like being outside and in nature – it’s important to be connected to it. I’d encourage this as much as you can because I’m sure at some point kids get stuck in front of screens.

  • yeah they love it when the flowers come on or they can harvest something.

  • Yes,it’s great to teach the kids how to grow things,we love to buy a packet of seeds $1 or $1.50,we love to grow things you can eat.

  • My girl is not yet two so she doesn’t quite understand the cycle of growth but she loves to get out with her watering can!

  • Both my kids love gardening. My daughter likes ‘pretty flower’ and the vegie patch and my son just loves shadowing daddy as he works around the garden. To encourage their passion we’ve given them both their own little “patch” and get them to help us in the vegie patch. Such a great hobby for them and it encourages healthy eating and getting outdoors
