Hello!

I am sick of my children waking from their afternoon sleep because the phone rings. Am I the only one who takes the home phone off the hook when my children have their sleeps? Do you?

  • I never used the home phone when had it connected for internet, so I wouldn’t even plug one into the wall lol. I do put my phone on silent when I don’t want to get disturbed.

  • People still have home phones?!

  • I just turn the ringer volume wn.

  • Absolutely! There’s nothing more frustrating than them waking up from the phone. I also have a little sign near our front door that says “baby sleeping, please be quiet”. Works a treat too for door knockers who tend not to come to our door.

  • lol yeah that is wise for sure! i don’t like telemarketers.

  • I have of late as have been getting some really horrible phone calls in the early hours of the morning. No one answers and I finally had enough, so now before I go to bed I take the mainline off the hook so I dont get interrupted trying to sleep

  • If I put on silent or low volume I forget that I have done that and then my mother calls me on my mobile and wonders why I haven’t answered my home phone all day… Ooopppss

  • Yeah, I do. I sometimes just do it when I get sick of telemarketers calling. They really pee me off

  • its annoying cause most of the time the call is telemarketers :(

  • I know the feeling, I used to work permanent night shift and always took the phone off the hook as soon as I got home.
I realise now it was a bad idea in case of an emergency.

My advice is too lower the volume and let all the messages go to voice mail .
That way you can retrieve your messages when the kids are awake.

It sounds old fashioned but i hope it helps.

  • No call is more important than sleep! Take it off the hook. ;)

  • I am a fan of taking the phone off the hook!

  • Yes, I used to do this when my daughter was young. Nowadays I’m always reluctant to answer the phone because 9 times out of 10 it will be a telemarketer,.

  • Never did this – you could put the phone ringer volume down or divert to mobile and have that on silent. It’s pretty rough though when children wake up before they are ready.

  • I did it when my daughter was having a nap. Too many times she woke up because the phone started ringing.
