  • We just use paw paw ointment or Vaseline jelly. I guess you could add colour and/or flavour to these

  • Isn’t it something like adding scented oils to plain old Vaseline? Don’t try without finding out first, just in case I’m wrong

  • I recently saw a Facebook post to make lip stains using coconut oil & berries, beetroot etc. You just added the strained juice from grated fresh beetroot to oil & kept it in fridge. Good for 1month

  • I saw recently there is how to make your own lipgloss on the beauty section on this site!

  • Great question, I only let my daughter use Vaseline or paw paw ointment.

  • I’ve only let my girls use Vaseline for the shiny look. I love the other suggestions posted here. Thanks for asking the question to start this discussion. Hope your party went well.

  • How long would the gloss keep when you add the berry juice? Again I like the idea of it being pm natural.

  • You can make your own by melting coconut oil and some berry juice (eg. blackberries make purple tinge, strawberries light pink and raspberries a red tinge). You just mix it well , pop it in a container and store it in the fridge.

  • Try the Wellness Mama website. They seem to have a natural, additive free recipe for everything.

  • There are already some great suggestions here. There are also heaps of ideas if you google homemade lip gloss.

  • Thankyou everyone, I can’t believe I didn’t think of you tube. I do like the idea of coconut oil which keeps it really natural. We will also be doing some jewellery making. ☺

  • oh i know that beetroot juice is a good stain for lips so maybe you could try using that

  • Sounds like a fun Girls party . What about Jeweller making using a range of different beads. Also these days you should be able to find a lot of items in the bargain stores, or homecraft stores such as Spotlight .

  • As another poster has said, coconut oil makes a good base base and you can use the juice of berries to colour it. Add a couple of teaspoons of coconut oil to a bowl and mix through berry juice. Pop it in a container but you’ll need to leave it in the fridge as the coconut oil melts in the heat. Super easy and no nasty chemicals.

  • You would use something with a mosituriser base. big question is what do you use for the colour of it?
