We have the little eye wipes but I was hoping for something I can use at home to help

  • I know some people who have used breast milk and others who used cold tea bags with success but honestly I would see your GP and get it checked because you cant be too careful with eye health.

  • Saline solution and cotton balls. I use the saline solution that cleans glasses. Just ask at the pharmacy. My kids have had conjunctivitis a lot and the doctor told me to stop with he antibiotics because they start to become immune to it

  • Sometimes, warm salty water can help in mild cases. Wipe once from inside to outside and discard cotton wool. Repeat as necessary. But keep an eye on it, it may need a Dr prescription.

  • Warm salty water is good. Wipe from inside to outside of eye, different cotton ball for each eye, one wipe out per ball. If it gets too bad though, medical intervention is necessary

  • My mum always used luke warm salty water. Wipe from inside out and never reuse the same cloth once its been used, to reduce it spreading.

  • You can now get antibiotic drops & ointment for the eyes over the counter at your pharmacy. I do remember a couple drops of breast milk was used back when my men were babies too!

  • Luke warm salty water and make sure anything they are rubbing their eyes on is washed regularly.

  • Breast milk is sposed to be great for conjunctivitis. I had a kid who had a blocked tear duct and it always looked like he had conjunctivis. We were advised from a doctor to heat a flannel with warm water and clean the eye and then apply chlorsig. Thankfully it resolved itself. But with my other kids I always used chlorsig for conjunctivitis.

  • I have found advice from GP and chemist to be most effective.

  • Hey i always used plain warm water and a cloth. Repeated heaps and heaps. Cleans and breaks down the gunk and feels good. I did it multiple times a day. Whenever new gunk started forming. Use a new cloth each time and wash them properlly in the washer with hot hot water like everything else those little hands and eyes touch.

  • I think a really gentle dilute mix of salt water but I have read otherwise and just a warm cloth compress for a few minutes works
